NICOLE LAM

Founder and Director of Operations

Nicole Lam is a freshman at Yale University. She started Love Through Music as a high school freshman in 2017. As a pianist, she has been playing since the age of 4 and has performed as a soloist in world known concert halls like Carnegie Hall New York, Bucharest University Romania, Brahms Hall Vienna, Zipper Concert Hall, and others. Nicole has won innumerable competitions like Lansum International Competition, and TC International. As a classical vocalist, Nicole has sung in renowned concert venues such as Dorothy Chandler and historic sites of Italy and Vienna. Nicole also has extensive chamber music experience, such as commissions to premiere UCLA's composition based on “Glass Menagerie" and Bruce Stark's "Three Dances" at the MTAC convention. As a television host, Nicole works as the only bilingual host at her station, hosting celebratory events broadcasted to as many as twenty thousand viewers. As someone who finds joy in helping others, Nicole strives to spread the essence of music to other people’s hearts and show that passion can motivate people to do phenomenal things.

LEILANI PATAO

Outreach Director

Leilani Patao is a senior in the Music Vocals Department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Her previous roles at LACHSA include Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Somewhere Soloist in West Side Story, and Edwin Drood in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. She is so excited to be a part of the Love Through Music team and is thankful for this wonderful opportunity.

SARAH SUNG

Activities Director

Sarah Sung is currently a junior in the LACHSA (Los Angeles County High School for the Arts) music instrumentals department. She has performed with the LACHSA symphony orchestra and string ensemble as well as the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra Philharmonic in the past years. Ever since she started playing the violin at the age of 7, She has developed a great passion for sharing music with the community. Sarah is very fortunate to be a part of the Love Through Music team and is looking forward to a great year!

TANIA RAMBALDO

President

Tania Rambaldo is a senior at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. A classically trained violinist, pianist, and occasional singer, she has been playing music for most of her life. Tania has participated in music festivals across San Francisco and Los Angeles and enjoys collaborating with diverse types of musicians, from duets with jazz pianists to large classical ensembles. As someone whose life has been shaped by music, Tania believes musicians have the ability to heal their communities—to connect people without words and inspire kindness. She is beyond thankful to be a part of Love Through Music.

EMMA CHANG

Co-President

Emma Chang is a senior at St. Margaret's Episcopal School. A classically trained pianist, Emma has been playing the piano since she was 7. Music has always been both a passion and a way of life for her—a result from growing up in a household of many records and CDs. In her free time, Emma enjoys transcribing pop songs,  learning jazz theory, and practicing ensemble music with her piano trio. She has performed nationally and internationally in California, New York, Vienna, Budapest, and Prague. With a love for traveling the world that goes hand in hand with music, Emma is honored and humbled to be a part of LTM's journey to spread the joy of music around the globe.

KAYLA MEHLDAU

President

Kayla Mehldau, age 12, is a 7th grader at Cedarlane Academy. She has enjoyed playing piano for the past six years. She is excited to be a part of Love Through Music and to help with charity projects.

Hailey Lin is a 7th grader at High Point Academy. She enjoys drawing, listening to music, and fashion design. She is excited to be a part of the Love Through Music family and hopes to use her artistic abilities to help more people and share joy!

CAYLA MENDOZA

President

Cayla F. Mendoza is a freshman at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music where she will be studying violin and music therapy. Sharing her passion for music, Cayla often volunteers for Education Through Music-LA and her local church, Saint Mary Magdalene. She has performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Dolby Theatre, Zipper Concert Hall, Skirball Cultural Center, and the Staples Center for the 62nd Grammys alongside artists such as Lang Lang, Joshua Bell, Cyndi Lauper, and more. In 2020 she was a featured solo violinist at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Mass of the Unborn at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels with composer Dr. John Bonaduce. Excited for college, Cayla is looking forward to walking alongside alligators, embracing hurricanes, and more importantly, leading the Love Through Music branch at the University of Miami.

FARIYAN ALAM

President

Fariyan Alam is a first-year student at the University of California: Santa Cruz as a proposed Astrophysics major. As a classically trained violist, Fariyan has performed alongside the LA Phil at various venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes. As a composer, Fariyan has worked with and written compositions for musicians from the Interlochen World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the LA Phil, and the Curtis Institute of Music. In addition to his musical background, Fariyan continues to advocate for social justice as a youth representative of the Self Help Graphics Youth Committee. Fariyan credits his appreciation for the arts to the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, which brought music to a historically underserved community, and wishes to share his appreciation with many others.
